ABOUT
DIRECTOR, CINEMATOGRAPHER & EDITOR
Robert Gow is a documentary director and producer based in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
His work spans human rights, crime, healthcare and social issues, driven by a curiosity about the choices people make, the systems they navigate and the experiences that shape who they become.
Robert has made character-driven documentaries for CBC, Bell Fibe TV1 and AMI, with a particular ability to build trust with people whose stories can be difficult to access. His work has taken him inside prisons, into remote communities and into the lives of people navigating extraordinary circumstances.
Real Verdicts: An 8-part documentary series for Fibe TV1 about crime in New Brunswick. Each episode is a slice-of-life portrait of someone whose life has involved the criminal justice system. Subjects include former gang members, an RCMP captain, and a man serving life in prison for murder.
The Sinking Ship: An upcoming episode of Land & Sea about a fishing boat that sank two hours from shore in the middle of a winter storm, and the civilian who rescued the crew.
Behind Closed Doors: A documentary and podcast for CBC about Sarah Sherman, a woman who started a charity to provide care packages to survivors of sexual assault, 20 years after her husband tried to murder her and their two children.
Losing Yourself: An AMI documentary about Katrina O'Neil's battle with memory loss. At 29, she suffered a cardiac arrest, which put her in a coma. When she woke up, she thought she was 15. She had lost all memory of her children and her entire adult life.
Real Faces: A documentary series for Bell that highlighted larger-than-life figures like residential school survivors, MMA fighters, and refugees.
Real Food Stories: A FIBE TV1 show about the problems facing the food system and the people trying to solve them.
